2007 - 2008 Season

A classic love story is brought up-to-date in one of the most stunning theatrical spectacles of all time. In the turmoil of the Vietnam War, an American soldier and a Vietnamese girl fall in love, only to be separated during the fall of Saigon. Their struggles to find each other over the ensuing years ends in tragedy for her and a fighting chance for the child he never knew he had. Raw and uncompromising, Miss Saigon is an intensely personal story of the losses we suffer and the sacrifices we make in a world gone mad.

C-R Productions Offers Another Broadway-Quality Show
C-R Productions' October offering is a throbbing and powerfully poignant production. Director Jim Charles has assembled a company that is stunningly talented. Yvonne Same as the title character is nothing less than brilliant. Brendan Hoffman as Chris has a voice with staggering range, and he acts his part with all the uncertainties and hope of any young soldier in a strange and violent land. Even if you are too young to remember that time, however, do not miss this show. It is a history lesson!
- Carol King, The Daily Gazette

Cohoes' Saigon Glorious, Powerful
The production is emotionally powerful and gloriously sung. Brendan Hoffman as Chris would almost be reason enough to see the show; supple, strong and honest to a degree that can induce goosebumps, Hoffman’s singing is of the sort that keeps people coming back to musical theater. As Kim, Yvonne Same is a strong singer and actress. She makes the character a tragic heroine. Brian Jose is a delight as the amoral, pansexual Engineer. Director Jim Charles isn't afraid to reach for grand moments and powerful drama. It's to our benefit that he has the talent and the cast to achieve both.

Saigon Is Colorful, Realistic And Heart-Touching
Tenderness and brutality come face to face in a brilliant staging of the pop opera Miss Saigon at the Cohoes Music Hall. The production is colorful, at times violent, and always heart touching, whether the scenes are loving or emotionally disastrous. The acting is so realistic that audience members cannot stop looking with growing intensity. The second production of its current season, C-R can be proud of "Miss Saigon." The audience agreed with a standing ovation, which pretty much is a tradition following this group's performances.

Miss Saigon Accomplishes The Impossible
It’s always a great experience when you accomplish the impossible. That’s how C-R productions must feel about the production of Miss Saigon. To find the number of classically trained singers that are mandatory to do justice to the intricate score is daunting. Not only are these things happening at Cohoes Music Hall, they’re happening at a pretty high level of quality. The material is tender and touching, as underneath the tragic story about the clash of cultures in war-time environment, there exists a moving love story. It is a work that deserves to find its audience!
- Bob Goepfert, The Record

Perfect Theatrical Entertainment And Solemn Simplicity
Artistic Director Jim Charles has assembled a fine cast. Yvonne Same is a dynamic Kim. Brian José as the Engineer, looks like he is having a wonderful time playing the scum of the earth. A talented pit band under the musical direction of Adam Jones filled the Hall with Broadway-style sound. C-R Productions has managed the perfect balance of theatrical entertainment and solemn simplicity to make Miss Saigon a poignant and relevant anti-war statement for today.
