Forum Delivers Laughs With Style
"Something familiar, something peculiar,” ah, yes, those words can only mean one thing, something for everyone: a comedy tonight! Jim Charles (C-R’s artistic director) leads the show as the scheming slave Pseudolus and he does a fantastic job. The character is a clown and Charles plays him as such, with mirth and joy. Tralen Doler is one of those directors who can make a mixed cast of pros, semi-pros and dedicated amateurs work as one. His choreography is as strong as his direction, and he clearly tries to make the audience have as much fun as the cast. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum… something for everyone, indeed!

Forum Is A Can’t Miss Comedy For A Fun Night On The Town
“I suspect Jim Charles has played Pseudolus before once or twice, because he seems very, very comfortable in the large clown shoes previously filled by stars of the magnitude of Zero Mostel, Phil Silvers, Nathan Lane, and Whoopi Goldberg. His Pseudolus is wildly over-the-top, broad and bawdy, and in fine voice. Charles seems to be having so much fun that it would be impossible for everyone else in the theatre not to join him in the hilarity.”
- Gail Burns, GailSez.com
Laughing All The Way To Rome
“C-R Productions’ season-closer is beyond a doubt one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in years. Director Tralen Doler knows how to merge talents of young and old for best effect. The unrestrained humor begins with Jim Charles introducing our visit to Rome back in 100 B.C. He, like everyone else makes the most of the text by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart. Charles is sensational every moment he is on stage. He is the most comical Pseudolus imaginable. Oh yes, and get your affairs in order. You might just die laughing, but what a way to go!”
- Bob Rose, The Post Star
Hilarious Funny Thing Brings Order To Farcical Chaos
“This production is sharply directed and comicly choreographed by Tralen Doler, and alive with sold performances. The cast of this production is first-string. Jim Charels brilliantly underplays the narrator/slave even as he chews the scenery. Paul Kelly as Hysterium is, as his character implies hysterical. Cathy Newman stands out as Domina, Dave Adamick lends majesty to the master, and Jason Fleck is gloriously, deliciously hateful as the Roman captain.”
- Carol King, The Daily Gazette
